Out and about in NYC

On such a beautiful day it seems so wrong to take the subway and it's on these walks that you come across things that you may otherwise miss. I stumbled across the exhibition "Exposed, a History of Lingerie" at The Museum at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) on 23rd and 7th Ave and, well, being a lover of nice underwear I just had to pop in.

As with most exhibitions photography is not allowed but I did grab a couple of snaps (how naughty of me!) I love that the pieces I adored the most were made about 125 years apart. The red corset (pictured) is Circa 1889 and the Neoprene ensemble is 2014. Both heaven.

The exhibition covered developments in intimate apparel from the 18 th century to present and included two types of lingerie- hard and soft. Hard being corsets, bustles and structured garments while soft consisted of unstructured garments, such as slips and nightgowns. Labels such as La Perla, Gaultier and Agent Provocateur featured.
